Biography

Elizabeth Juelich is a partner at Krueger, Juelich & Schmisek, PLLC in Minnetonka, Minnesota.

Elizabeth focuses her practice on family law and estate planning. She understands that her clients' families are their most valuable asset, and she tailors her representation to create a plan for their personal and financial future. Elizabeth values her clients' perspectives, listens to their goals and priorities, and helps them accomplish their objectives through legal and practical advice.

Believing clients are happier with the outcome when they are actively engaged in planning and settlement negotiations, Elizabeth encourages client participation throughout the process. She educates her clients on the relevant legal precedents and provides a cost-benefit analysis for specific actions. While Elizabeth tries to resolve as many issues as possible through alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and informal settlement discussions, she is prepared to litigate if an acceptable agreement can't be reached. Elizabeth also provides legal services under limited-scope representation agreements and through advice-only consultations.

Elizabeth's prior experience in the areas of federal financial compliance, budget development, finance, and strategic planning is the foundation of her passion for analyzing and synthesizing complex financial information and advising business owners, officers, executives, and other high net-worth individuals and their spouses. Her experience in these matters makes her a sought-after author and instructor. Elizabeth presents and has been published in both national and state forums on topics including:

• Tax issues in divorce
• Spousal maintenance
• Child support
• Child custody
• Dividing employee stock awards and retirement benefits
• Executive compensation issues
• Qualified domestic relations orders
• Post-decree modifications
• Case management for complex divorce cases
• Discovery
• Estate planning considerations in divorce

Elizabeth is admitted to practice law in Minnesota and is a member of the Hennepin County and Minnesota State Bar associations and their respective Family Law and Estates and Trusts sections. Her involvement in these sections allows her to keep current on important developments in her practice areas and weigh in on legislative changes to improve the laws that impact her clients.

Elizabeth devotes significant time giving back to the community by providing pro bono estate planning services to first responders through the Wills for Heroes program; preparing tax returns for low-income individuals through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program; serving on the board of Two Rivers Community Land Trust, a nonprofit providing affordable housing for low and moderate-income individuals and families in Washington County, Minnesota; coaching and judging mock trial competitions; and mentoring law students and newer attorneys. Elizabeth has been honored for her pro bono work by receiving the North Star Lawyer Award from the Minnesota State Bar Association every year since 2013 in recognition of providing pro bono services exceeding 50 hours annually.

Elizabeth was selected to the Minnesota Super Lawyers Rising Star list each year from 2012 through 2018, a designation received by no more than 2.5% of the attorneys in Minnesota and has been named a Super Lawyer since 2019. In 2018, Elizabeth served on the national Rising Stars advisory board, where she represented the central region of the United States. The National Advocates also named Elizabeth as one of the top 40 attorneys in Minnesota under 40 in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
